Athens is a city full of life and flavor, and I can't wait to share this beautiful destination with you. With its trendy bars, delicious wines, aromatic olive oil and excellent restaurants, Athens is a true hot spot. I know this city like the back of my hand and would love to take you on a culinary journey of discovery. Especially during the Christmas period, Athens shines like never before!
The date in 2024 for this culinary and wine trip to Athens has not yet been determined.
We stay in a beautiful four-star hotel in the heart of the city, visit a local winery just outside the city limits and take part in a cooking class taught by a well-known Greek chef - who also happens to be a good friend of mine. She will teach us the secrets of Greek cuisine and explore the vibrant food market with us. Furthermore, wine tasting is on the agenda, including an educational session at the Acropolis, a street food tour and much more!
I can hardly suppress my excitement about this trip. Will you join us on this tasteful journey of discovery through Athens?
This unique culinary and wine experience is an absolute must for true gastronomy and wine lovers!
Friday
Arrival at 11.20 at Athens airport (flight Transavia, 25.03 at 07.00 from Amsterdam). Departure to the winery where we will taste Greek wine with all kinds of snacks / light lunch... delicious.... Then we drive to the hotel in the heart of the city. Check into the hotel. In the evening we have an extensive dinner in the center of Athens... WOW.
Saturday
When we are in Athens we should really get to know this city, right? After all, it is the cradle of our democracy, there is so much to experience and see. We're going out with Dimitri for an incredibly extensive food tour. We eat and taste everything that makes Athens a culinary hotspot: wine, pita gyros, loukoumades, cheese pies, souvlaki, olive oil, ouzo, etc. .... it's an incredible amount. In the afternoon we have another wine tasting: this time in the city, with a view of the Acropolis. There is no dinner planned.
Sunday
We meet my friend Georgia, the chef! We will go with her to the food market in Athens and then we will cook together, at a top location in the old center of Athens. Of course we have lunch together and drink Greek wine. In the afternoon there is some free time for shopping.
Monday
A stay in Athens is not complete without a visit to Athens. So in the morning there is a visit to the Acropolis on the program and afterwards we will have lunch! Before we drive to the airport there is still some time for the last shopping.... The flight will (probably) depart at 8.35 pm.
